We are very fortunate to have such a great place to play cricket. Our ground and wicket are superb. With a view of Belvoir Castle in the distance and Leicestershire’s highest spired Church ‘St Mary’s’ in the village overlooking our ground. On a warm summers day there’s no place better.
As you would expect we have an excellent pavilion with fully stocked bar, carpeted changing room and full cricket facilities including an artificial wicket, nets, covers and arguably the heaviest mobile sight screens in the County.
For a village team we are lucky to be able to have two teams on a Saturday and also two on a Sunday. We also play Thursday evenings. We have a strong youth setup which supports the senior sides with players coming through. Some of our players have progressed to the professional level. England’s International Cricketer Luke Wright was a Bottesford Cricket Club lad.
This year 2009 we are looking forward to a more consistent year than that of 2008. Great performances on Sundays saw our 1st team gain promotion to the Newark Alliance Division league 1. Sadly our Saturday 1st team were relegated. Our 2nd team performed well on both days and only just missed out on promotion on a Saturday.
